#Throwback to the September Holidays! This September, we involved our children in some hands-on learning – let’s check out what they did this September!

SUNTEC

This holiday, our children in Josiah Suntec embarked on a journey to learn more about ‘Healthy Eating’. Josiah strongly believes that ‘Healthy Eating’ is a good habit that should be instilled in children from a tender young age.

Throughout the term, the children learned about various types of fruits and vegetables from various countries from a cultural perspective. Thus, this holiday, to enhance the children’s learning, they were personally involved in a ‘Healthy Eating’ learning journey by getting hands-on experiences as mini-chefs! The children got to connect language and mathematical concepts in this hands-on experience by naming the fruits and vegetables, counting, weighing, and measuring the food they had to prepare or cook!

On top of the hands-on experience, they were taught there is such a term called ‘healthier choices’ such as the different methods of cooking! The children went on a food learning journey to learn about the different types of cuisines, where they had lots of fun crafting their own shopping lists, recipes, and going grocery shopping for their very own Vietnamese spring rolls, Japanese sushi, as well as fruity custard.

CHANGI

This September holiday, it’s all about having a ‘Creative Mind’ at Josiah Changi! Our children embarked on a journey to discover their very own creative mind, with endless hands-on activities from Art, to Music & Movement, to Games, and to Cookery – the children were highly encouraged to express their creativity in various forms.

We also went on to visit “The Artground”, which was inspired by the poem, ‘The 100 Languages of Children’, by Loris Malaguzzi. The children had lots of fun at the ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’ exhibit, where they were able to interact with the visual art exhibit physically, by hopping, skipping, climbing and crawling.
