Profile

Name: Halibut Fish
Type: Saltwater Fish, Flatfish
Nutrition: Very High
Traits: Few Bones

With few bones and high nutrition, it is no wonder why halibut fish is our number 1 choice for fish. Like all other fishes, halibut fish is high in protein. So, what makes halibut fish stand out amongst all other fishes?

Omega 3 Fatty Acids

Halibut fish is high in omega 3 fatty acids: mainly eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). EPA and DHA are essential fatty acids. However, they are not synthesised by the human body and thus, has to be supplied via external means.

DHA is crucial for the healthy structure and function of the brain. Hence, it is especially essential for young children, as well as pregnant and nursing mothers.

Besides being great for the brain, omega 3 fatty acids also help to improve moods and reduce depression. Furthermore, consumption of halibut fish also helps to prevent diseases such as childhood asthma.

Halibut fish is a great source for omega 3 fatty acids – which are extremely good for the health and development of young children. Hence, we serve halibut fish here in Josiah.

Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12

Halibut fish is rich in vitamin B6 and vitamin B12. The family of B vitamins plays an important role in converting food into energy. It also helps the body to metabolise fats and proteins to promote healthy body functions. Vitamin Bs are also important for healthy hair, skin, liver and eyes.

Cooking Methods

It is of prime importance for halibut fish to be cooked using the right methods as nutrients may be easily lost.

Choose cooking methods such as:

  1. Boiling
  2. Baking
  3. Grilling

The above-mentioned cooking methods are not just healthy, but also minimises nutrient loss.
