Our curriculum centres around The Josiah Way concepts.
Each programme is designed to be balanced, holistic and effective
for the growing bodies and minds of our little ones.
Our preschool was founded on Montessori principles, which was characterised by an emphasis on independence, freedom within limits, and respect for a child’s natural psychological, physical and social developmental needs.
We have since evolved our curriculum and methods in line
with modern day social expectations, children’s individuality
and their unique needs.
We call it the Josiah Way.
The Montessori approach to education takes its name from Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and educator (1870-1952). Dr. Maria Montessori developed her educational philosophy upon her observations of the way children learn. She discovered that children have ‘absorbent minds’, causing them to absorb information from their environment.
Montessori’s scientific finding discovered that the children needed very little persuasion to do everyday tasks, puzzles or other interesting activities which have a direct impact in minimizing destructive behaviours. She described that young children from birth to 6 years old undergo striking physical and psychological development. She termed this as a “sensitive period”, when young children are especially attuned to acquiring knowledge from and about their environment.
Josiah’s Musical Arts Programme (MAP) is an integrated arts programme for children from N1 to K2 levels.
As an integral part of The Josiah Way (along with the Montessori curriculum), the MAP curriculum incorporates philosophies and methodologies of acclaimed music specialists such as Hillary Henshaw, Kodaly, Dalcroze, and Carolyn Lucento.
With diverse exposure, creative engagement and musical experiences, the ultimate goal is for children to develop a love for music and to express themselves with ease and confidence through the performing arts.
We nurture self directed learners. Join us in developing your child’s creative skills through Montessori Method & Holistic Learning.
