Choosing infant care is a personal decision.
Every family approaches this decision differently. What matters is finding an environment where you feel confident your baby will be understood, cared for and supported throughout the day.
At Josiah, infant care provides a calm and thoughtfully prepared environment where babies build secure relationships with their educators, engage with other children, and develop confidence and independence at their own pace, guided by their individual rhythm and readiness.
Some families begin infant care from two months, while others choose to start later. There is no single “right” time for every family. The best place to begin is by visiting the environment and understanding how our educators support your baby’s individual needs, rhythm and readiness.

This ratio gives educators time to understand each baby's cues, routines and ways of communicating. Every child also becomes familiar with the wider care team, supporting consistent care throughout the day.
Our educators use simple baby signs such as milk, more and finished, giving babies another way to express their needs before words emerge. Each baby’s cues, routines and individual rhythm guide how our educators respond and provide care.
You’ll receive regular updates on your baby’s meals, sleep and overall well-being.
Josiah has been caring for children since 1997. Our 1:3 infant ratio gives educators more time to notice, respond to and support each baby’s individual needs.

You decide when to drop off and pick up within our operating hours. While your baby is with us, her feeds, sleep, movement and care follow her individual rhythm rather than a fixed timetable.
- 01ArrivalYour baby is welcomed by an educator who knows her. You share how she slept, when she last fed and anything different that morning, so her day begins with the right context.
- 02Unhurried explorationUnhurried time on the mat gives your baby space to reach, roll, observe and move at their own pace. Educators stay nearby, responding when needed and noticing the new movements and abilities beginning to emerge.
- 03FeedsWe begin with the feeding pattern you share and gradually adjust as her needs change. Bottles are supplied by you, while breakfast, lunch and two snacks are prepared fresh on site for older babies, with dietary needs communicated clearly to the kitchen.
- 04SleepHer number of naps reflects her age and stage, but the timing follows her cues. Educators learn how she settles and help her rest in ways that become familiar and reassuring.
- 05A language-rich dayYour baby experiences language through songs, sounds, stories and warm interactions throughout the day. Baby Jukebox introduces music and rhythm, Tiny Tales offers thoughtfully selected stories, and bilingual exposure builds familiarity with different sounds. Baby sign gives babies another way to express simple needs.
- 06PickupAt pickup, you’ll receive your baby’s daily care log in their purple file. It records essential details such as temperature, feeding times, diaper changes and nap duration, with space for parents to leave a note for the centre.
05Your baby’s first days
Settling in, one step at a time.
The first days are shorter on purpose.
Nobody hands a nine-month-old to a stranger for nine hours on a Monday and calls that settled.
Your baby’s first days are kept shorter, giving them time to become familiar with the educators, environment and daily experiences. As their comfort grows, the hours can gradually lengthen in consultation with you.
Some babies settle quickly, while others need more time. Both are completely normal. We follow your baby’s cues and move at their pace, without expecting them to be ready according to a fixed timeline.
The part people say less often: settling in can be difficult for parents too. Our educators understand this and will listen to your concerns, share how your baby is adjusting and support your family through the transition.

10Before you visit
The questions parents of little ones ask.
From what age do you take babies?
Two months. That holds at all five centres, and the infant programme runs to 18 months before the toddler room takes over.
Will you follow her routine, or put her on yours?
Hers first. For the first two weeks we work to the pattern she arrives with, so she is not learning a new room and a new clock in the same fortnight. After that we ease her onto the rhythm her age group keeps. The groups are narrow on purpose, two to six months, seven to fourteen, and fifteen to eighteen, so she sits with babies who sleep and eat about as often as she does. By the time the toddler room takes over at eighteen months, she has been moving towards it for a year.
How do you settle a baby who has never been away from family?
We start her on a two to three hour day, led by her key educator, and lengthen it from there: three hours, then four, then five. Some babies take three days. Some take three weeks. Nobody will rush you through it.
Are the hours flexible if I need to drop off late or collect early?
Yes. You decide when to drop off and pick up within our operating hours of 7am to 7pm. Drop off at nine after a bad night, or collect at four on a Friday.
Will I know what actually happened during her day?
You’ll receive a daily care log recording essentials such as feeds, diaper changes, naps and temperature, shared through the parent app or take-home file. When you need further clarification, our team can help you connect with an educator.
Is the centre ECDA-licensed and secure?
Every Josiah centre is ECDA-licensed, with secure access and trained infant educators. We have been caring for the youngest children this way for 29 years.
What does it cost, and do subsidies apply?
Fees vary by centre and are shared on request or during your visit. ECDA subsidies apply to eligible Singaporean children, and Baby Bonus CDA funds may be used for payment. We’ll confirm the applicable fees and support when you enrol.
We do not have a firm start date yet. Can we still enrol?
Vacancies vary by centre and intended start date. Many families begin exploring infant care several months ahead, so it is worth checking early even if your plans are not final. Share your preferred centre and approximate start date, and we’ll confirm the current availability.
